From January 22 till February 28, Akita University Mining Museum held an exhibition of the "Takamatsu Fuseishi Mineral Museum Collection".
At this special exhibition, the Mining Museum displayed more than 250 minerals from all over the world which were donated in 2014 by the bereaved family of Tamotsu Uematsu, former director of Takamatsu Fuseishi Mineral Museum.
On the first day of the special exhibition, the Mining Museum invited Michiharu Uematsu, the son of Tamotsu Uematsu. Tsukasa Ooba, assistant director of the Mining Museum gave a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Uematsu. Mr. Uematsu gave a speech and talked about the circumstances within whichthe minerals were donated to Akita University. Also a video of the Takamatsu Fuseishi Mineral Museum was shown. It was a video about the opening of the museum.
After the speech, Mr. Chida, a curator, gave an explanation about the minerals.
Many people visited and were able to experience seeing the precious mineral specimens.
