Free Admission to Mining Museum in tribute to Science & Technology Week

 

 

 

On April 23rd and 24th, Akita University conducted a free admission to Mining Museum of Akita University in tribute to “Science & Technology Week (April 18th-24th)” held by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Volunteers who support operation of the museum were giving visitors a tour.
Mining Museum of Akita University started from the Akita Mining School’s display room in 1910 and today’s museum was constructed in 1961. For 100 years from the foundation, an extensive number of geological and industrial documents has been collected for research and student education. The museum is not only displaying variety of minerals and ores, unique stones and fossils but also explaining flow of resources development and fundamental of mine technology using actual equipment and detailed model.
The museum is introducing latest study of the university and achievement of academic field in wide range through special exhibitions and lectures open to public.
