On April 21st, the 67th Awarding Ceremony for the students completed correspondence educational program certified by MEXT, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan was held. Mr. Kuramata, completed the program of Faculty of Engineering Science in 2014, received the Minister of Education Award.
It is awarded to the student with good academic results out of more than 55 thousand students all over Japan, started in 1950, awarded every year.
At the ceremony, total of 43 students including Mr. Kuramata were awarded by Minister of Education.
Correspondence Educational Program started from Akita Mining School, precursor of Faculty of Engineering Science, establishing correspondence education department for the staff in 1948. In 1949 title was changed to correspondence educational program of Akita University Mining Faculty. In 1983, a number of course was expanded. In 1995, restructuring of the program was made, now consist of general technology course, a course to study cultural knowledge of science and technology and a course to learn the basic or special study of resource, electrotechnology and other.
