Health and Consultations

University Health Center

The University Health Center is a medical facility which provides support to students in their day-to-day lives, enabling them to study and engage in extracurricular activities in good health.
The center is located on Tegata Campus, next to University Hall (Clair).
Full-time doctors and nurses are always ready to assist you, so please do not hesitate to stop by if you are feeling sick or are worried about anything.
The center is also equipped with beds, which are available for use in the event that you are not feel well and need to rest.

3.Services

1)Periodic medical examinations

You must undertake these medical examinations. If not, you will need to take a medical examination at hospital by yourself and submit a medical certificate.

  • Held from the start of April until the middle of May
  • Includes the following tests
     Internal……………………Examinations: Chest x-ray, blood pressure, urine test
     Ear, nose and throat……Examinations: Hearing test
     Ophthalmology……………Examinations: Eye test
     Physical measurements…Height, weight
2)Health Consultations

At the University Health Center, we aim to maintain and improve your health so that you can study and engage in extracurricular activities in good health.
The center provides emergency treatment for when you injure yourself or feel sick, administering treatment according to your symptoms and providing referrals to nearby hospitals.
You have a chronic condition and you are not sure where to find a regular doctor, or have symptoms but are not sure which department to go to have them looked at… At such times, you are welcome to use the University Health Center, which will help address your concerns.
The center also has rest rooms, which you can use during your free time between lessons to take a break.

3)Mental Health Consultations/Counselling

Becoming a university student and starting a new life on campus in a new environment is a major turning point in life, one which is filled with expectations and anxieties.
You no doubt lived your school lives up until high school in environments over which you no control. However, university is different in that you move away from your parents and gain an increased amount of freedom, which also comes with certain responsibilities.
You will probably encounter a number of different problems during your time at university, including problems relating to your studies, human relations and financial problems. At such times, please visit the University Health Center. There are full-time nurses at the center who are waiting to help resolve health issues of a kinds, both mind and body. If necessary, the center will refer you for a consultation with a psychiatrist of counsellor, thus providing an additional layer of support in your student life.
You can also consult with the center concerning the following kinds of issues. Whether in person or by telephone or email, the University Health Center is always here to help sort out your problems.

  • Anxiety, insomnia

  • Maladjustment
  • Personal relations
4)Emergency Treatment

Please come straight to the University Health Center if you have injured yourself or feel that something is wrong, such as you are feeling week and having cold-like symptoms. One of our doctors or nurses will provide you with emergency treatment, and will take the appropriate steps for your symptoms, such as referring you to hospital.

5)Issuance of Medical Certificates

The University Health Center issues Medical Certificates based on data obtained from periodic medical examinations. The results of periodic medical examinations can be issued using a certificate issuing machine, which can be found in the Student Support Building and Faculty of Medicine Educational Affairs Division, School of Medicine/School of Health Sciences Section Office. Please ensure to issues certificates and check the content by yourself. There are also times when you will need a health certificate for job hunting and training activities, so please use this machine for these purposes, too.

Regarding Student Consultations

Students can receive a range of consultations at the following locations. No matter where you go for a consultation, the university has a system in place which enables referrals with the relevant department or other counsellors/medical facilities according to the nature of the consultation, along with communication between departments. All consultations are treated in the strictest confidentiality.

The following are some common examples of consultations. As you can see, you are not alone, so please seek help if you are experiencing any troubles.
