Activities for International Students
Orientations
Two orientations, one in April and another in October, provide new international students with information about university life, Japanese language classes, and health care programs.
Field Trips in Summer and Winter
International students are invited to participate in
a three-day trip in summer break. We also have a
winter bus trip to see a traditional festival in snow.
Destinations vary from year to year.
Ski Camp (in winter)
International and Japanese students are invited to an
overnight ski camp during the winter vacation.
With
the help of our friendly instructors, you will be sure to
enjoy skiing, even if you are just a beginner.
Rice-cake (Mochi ) Making

A rice-cake (Mochi )
making a ctivity
will be held at
the end of the year. International
students , helped
by members of
the neigh boring
communities, can go
through the entire process of making
Mochi .
You can
also learn about
the preparation of
dishes made from
Mochi , thus gaining
a better understanding of a traditional Japanese
ceremony at Shogatsu (the period from the end of
December to the beginning of January).
Cultural Activities in Akita Prefecture
A wid erange of
traditional festivals
and activities are
available in Akita
every year.
During
the summer ,the
renowned Kanto
festival takes place
with a dazz ling
display of lanterns
accompanied by
drums and dancing.
Inthenearby
communities ,
the reare many
similar but unique
cultural events
which international
students can
participate in and
enjoy.
Graduation Party
This party is held to celebrate the graduation of international students in March.
