Satellite Projects

Akita University runs lecture meetings and children’s science classes within Akita Prefecture and the Greater Tokyo Area, the aim being to generate awareness of the university’s educational, research and public contribution activities.

Satellite Projects within Akita Prefecture

Akita University runs lecture meetings and children’s science classes based at its Yokote, Kita-Akita and Oga Namahage branch schools. Furthermore, the university has been involved in tri-university collaborative projects with two other universities in Akita Prefecture: Akita Prefectural University since the 2007 academic year, and Akita International University since the 2010 academic year.

Events held in the 2014 academic year

  • Akita University students provided educational guidance to 3rd year students at Misato Junior High School. (Aug. 19, 2014)
  • Medical Science Café Next was held in Happo-cho. (Aug. 8, 2014)

Events held in the 2013 academic year

  • Akita University students took part in Misato Festa 2013 and staged a concert. (Oct. 26, 2013)
  • Medical Science Café Next was held in Misato-machi. (Oct. 2, 2013)

Events held in the 2012 academic year

  • The Hata Hata Sushi Food Tasting Party and Village Symposium was held in Oga City. (Jan. 13, 2013)
  • The 2012 Academic Year Tri-university Collaborative Project in Akita Prefecture was held in Oga City. (Nov. 17, 2012)
  • Akita University students staged the Water Concert at Misato Junior High School. (Oct. 4, 2012)
  • The Kamoaosa Sea Bream Festival was held in Oga City. (May 26, 2012)

  • A children’s science class was held in Happo. (Mar. 4, 2012)
  • The children’s science class ‘How do Volcanoes form?’ was held. (Feb. 20, 2012)
  • The Partnership Agreement Commemorative Lecture Concert was held.
  • The satellite lecture ‘Creatures of the Sea: Salmon’ was held. (Oct. 16, 2011 at Kamoaosa Shogakko)

Tokyo Satellite Education Seminars

CIC Tokyo, located in the Akita University Tokyo Satellite Office, is the venue for education seminars, which were participated in by many such as Akita University graduates and persons born in Akita who lived in Tokyo area.

Events held in the 2012 academic year

  • The 2012 Academic Year Akita University Tokyo Satellite Education Seminar ‘Learning from the Kingdom of Bhutan: What is Real Happiness?’ was held.

Events held in the 2011 academic year

  • The 2011 Academic Year Akita University Public Lecture ‘The Earthquake which struck the Northern Area of the Sea of Japan and Responses to this Disaster’ was held in Tokyo.
