Honors Scholarship at Akita University

Akita University has established its own scholarship program that awards 50,000 yen per month for those who have excellent academic records and are recommended by its overseas partner universities. Degree-seeking graduate students and short-term exchange students are eligible to apply. For more information, please contact the International Student Support Section. (ryugaku@jimu.akita-u.ac.jp)

Japanese Government Monbukagakusho(MEXT) Scholarships

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has a program through which students are invited to study in Japan at the state’s expense.

Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Scholarships

An “Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students” has been provided by JASSO.

Privately Financed Scholarships

Although very competitive, there are some privately financed scholarships for self-funded students. Notices are generally circulated via bulletin boards around campus. The application requirements vary among scholarships.
