How to participate in events

LET’S MEET UP! -Chatting in multiple languages-

This is an international exchange event for international and Japanese students of Akita University!

This is a social event where you can make new friends and interact with multiple cultures through a variety of group activities (discussions, campus walks, quizzes, etc.) conducted in multiple languages. In this event, the group will explore on their own the language in which they can communicate. It does not matter if you are not fluent in Japanese or English. Each session lasts about an hour, so please feel free to join us.

Join us for a two-day, one-night experience at a farmhouse in Senboku City!

As part of the Akita International Student Exchange Promotion Conference, we have been offering international students from within Akita Prefecture the opportunity to take part in agricultural work and to enjoy a homestay experience with farmers since 2012. International students are invited to make Nishiki-machi, Senboku City, their third home in addition to their home in Akita Prefecture, where Akita University is located, and engage in meaningful encounters and learning. We are really looking forward to welcoming you to the farm!

Interact with local residents through mochi pounding!

Experience the traditional Japanese culture of mochi-tsuki (pounding rice cakes) with local residents in a time-honored way, and enjoy delicious rice cakes. Joining our Akita University students are international students from neighboring universities such as Akita Prefectural University, North Asia University, and Akita International University who also take part in this event. Come and enjoy the traditional Japanese event of mochi pounding together with our local residents! We are really looking forward to mochi pounding with you!

Exchange programs with the neighborhood community in the vicinity of the international student dormitory

Deepen exchanges with people in the neighborhood community through a variety of activities!

Akita University holds an exchange program with the neighborhood community in the vicinity of the international student dormitory twice a year. People from the neighborhood, high school students, international students, and Japanese students form groups and engage in various activities such as cooking and case studies on ways to resolve problems. This event aims to deepen mutual understanding through the process of discussions and joint work led by our students. Anyone is welcome to participate!

Enjoy skiing together for two days and one night!

Every year in February, we hold a ski camp training session for international and Japanese students at a ski resort in Akita Prefecture. Instructors are also available for those who are skiing for the first time. Join us by participating in this training session and make lots of friends. Come and enjoy winter in Akita with us. We are really looking forward to skiing with you!

Conference for the promotion of exchanges with international students in Akita Prefecture and other regions
Conference for the promotion of exchanges with international students in Akita Prefecture and other regions

With its secretariat located in the International Affairs Division of Akita University, the conference discusses measures to promote the acceptance of international students and holds international exchanges once a year, with members including higher education institutions, local governments, economic organizations, and organizations related to international exchanges in the prefecture.

The people involved in this committee work together to proactively promote international exchanges, including the acceptance of international students in the prefecture and exchange activities with the local residents.
