International Center for Research and Education on Mineral and Energy Resources (ICREMER) of Akita University held its fifth international symposium at the Japan International Cooperation Agency Research Institute (JICA-RI) in Ichigaya, Tokyo on March 6th, 2012.
The event entitled “Recent Advances in Resources Science and Technology for Sustainable Japan” had participation of researchers from not only foreign institutions such as the University of Chile, the Institute of Technology Bandung (Indonesia) and the Luleå University of Technology (Sweden) but also other Japanese universities, namely, Waseda University, Iwate University and University of Tokyo to give lectures on latest research achievements in various fields.
Many of the audience, including researchers from business corporations and universities, listened to the speakers attentively until the end of the last lecture at 5:00 p.m., reflecting enhanced social interest on topics in resources.
The Symposium was held also on March 8th, changing its venue to Akita University, to have 40 participants from in and out of the university.
