ICREMER/Akita University and its partners’ project adopted in JSPS Core-to-Core Program (Asia-Africa Science Platforms) (January 2012)

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) approved a project entitled “Establishment of Research and Education Hub on Rare Metal Resources Science and Engineering by Collaboration among Resources Frontier Countries and Japan,” which will be coordinated by Prof.Tsuyoshi Adachi of the International Center for Research and Education (ICREMER), as a project of the Core-to-Core Program (Asia-Africa Science Platforms).
This project aims to promote further exchanges with Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Botswana to create a research hub, while developing human resources with practical competence for the sector through education. Akita University has already signed a mutual partnership agreement with each of three universities of those countries, namely, the Mongolia University of Science and Technology, D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan state technical university and the University of Botswana.
The implementation period of the project is three years, starting from fiscal year 2012 and ending in fiscal year 2014.
