7th ICREMER Symposium “Recent Advances in Resource Science and Technology to Sustain Japan” was held. (March 2013)

The International Center for Research and Education on Mineral and Energy Resource of Akita University (ICREMER) held its seventh International Symposium at the Japan International Cooperation Agency Research Institute (JICA-RI) in Ichigaya, Tokyo on March 13th (Wednesday).
In this event, entitled “Recent Advances in Resource Science and Technology to Sustain Japan”, lectures on cutting-edge research developments in different research fields were given by international guest speakers from Sweden, Canada, Germany, Philippines and the United States, as well as ICREMER’s affiliate professors from the University of Tokyo and Tohoku University. At the beginning of the symposium, a presentation on Akita University’s project of establishing a new faculty of international resource studies was given by Dr. Tokiyuki Sato, professor of the Faculty of Engineering and Resource Science of the university.
The event had approximately 120 participants, including many of those engaged in the business sector and researchers at various universities. During the break and also at the reception after the symposium, there were active discussions and exchanges among the speakers and participants.
 The Symposium was held also on March 15th (Friday), changing its venue to Akita University, having 40 participants from in and out of the university.
