This is the 12th time for this program, a short-term training program for students from overseas partner institutions to develop human resources for sustainable development and use of natural resources. Due to the situation of the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the program was held online again this year, as it was last year.
A record number of 25 students from 13 universities in 11 countries participated in this year's program. In particular, Navoi University of Mining and Technology (Uzbekistan) participated in the program for the first time.
On the first day of the program, Monday, July 4, Director Shibayama gave a welcome speech, outlined the program, and explained about Akita University and the Center for International Resource Education and Research. This was followed by an orientation session.
Participants attended on-demand lectures, virtual facility tours and lab work, as well as lectures on Japanese language and culture and group discussion classes via live online connection for four weeks.
