Akita University Opens “Cooperation Research Office” within Trisakti University

Akita University (President: Dr. Fumio Yamamoto) inaugurated the “Cooperation Research Office” (hereinafter called the “Office”) at Trisakti University in Indonesia on September 18th.

Both universities established a joint laboratory at Trisakti University in 2015, and this time, additional research laboratories and rooms were expanded, designating them as an Akita University branch. It will serve as a platform where students in Indonesia can attend lectures from Akita University’s Graduate School of International Resource Sciences online as master’s program students, and faculty members from Akita University will visit Trisakti University to conduct intensive lectures. Furthermore, Branch students will have the opportunity to stay in Akita for a period of over two months each year to undergo practical training.
On the same day, a signing ceremony was held to mark the establishment, attended by President Fumio Yamamoto, along with Dean Hikari Fujii and Distinguished Professor Tokiyuki Sato of the Graduate School of International Resource Sciences from Akita University’s side. From Trisakti University, under the leadership of President Kadarsah Suryadi, about 40 individuals related to the institution joined the ceremony, celebrating the Office’s opening. At the beginning, a video introduced the history of exchange between both universities, creating a solemn yet cordial atmosphere.
Present at the ceremony was his Excellency Mr. Kenji Kanasugi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Indonesia, who delivered a congratulatory speech. He expressed his wish for the continued deepening of collaboration between Japanese and Indonesian universities and for the research achievements born at the Office to contribute to the development of the world.
President Yamamoto stated, “The Graduate School of International Resource Sciences promotes cutting-edge education and research, supported by advanced knowledge and expertise in earth science and resource environmental science. It aims to foster individuals with extensive knowledge from earth science to resource development and environmental conservation, capable of thriving as global leaders. We hope the students who learn at this Office will spread their wings on the world stage.”
Additionally, Dean Fujii delivered a speech in which he stated, “One inaugural class student is currently discussing their research plans with their supervisors and preparing for admission in October. Akita University is committed to providing the best environment for research and lectures, striving to make the Graduate School’s research fruitful. We aspire to expand this program in the near future, welcoming more Indonesian exchange students to the Graduate School of Akita University.”
The opening of the Office is expected to contribute to the advancement of educational and research activities for Akita University in Indonesia and to promote international collaboration.
