International Student Dormitories

Akita University has two off-campus dormitories for International students.
There’s also Nishiyachi Dormitory which is both for Japanese and International students. *For male students only.

Announcing Opening of Applications for Akita University International Student Dormitories (September,2021)

Due to capacity restrictions, not all applicants can be placed in university residence halls.

※Other than the rent fee, utility charges (electricity, water and gas) and management fee (2,500yen/month) will be at your own expense.
※Daily rate is unavailable. If residents have been in the dormitory for one day, they will have to pay the monthly rent fee for that month.
※The couple rooms are for international students and his/her spouse. There are no family rooms for students at the dormitories.
※Futon set (bed linens) will be prepared for Exchange Students at their desire with the cost of approx. 8,000yen

【Application Period and Procedures】
1.Eligibility:Akita University International Student.
2.Application Period:It will be announced on Akita University’s homepage twice a year (scheduled for February and July).
 ※For Exchange Students, please refer to the application deadline of the Akita University Student Exchange Program.
3.Term of residence: Maximum of 1 year

4.Selection Method:
 If there are more applicants than available rooms, selection will be made in order based on the following priorities ① to ⑤.
 - Privately funded international students take priority over government-financed international students.
 - As for newly-enrolled international students, those coming from overseas take priority.
  ①International exchange student under inter-university(faculty) exchange agreement
  ②International student newly-enrolled to degree-seeking course
  ③International student newly-enrolled to non-degree-seeking course
  ④International student in degree-seeking course
  ⑤International student in non-degree-seeking course
