On Thursday April 7, Akita University conducted a site tour for 47 freshmen from the Department of Engineering Science, Civil and Environmental Engineering Course. The tour was of Shimohama Road, route 7 where the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is leading a project.
Akita University organized and requested the tour to make students more interested in civil engineering and so that they could have first hand experience of what the job is like by seeing actual road construction site.
This Shimohama Road construction is currently underway and aiming to be opened to traffic by 2019.
The students took pictures and listened carefully to the explanations by MLIT staff and field workers.
